Message From The Director
The Director's Article of Appreciation
Wow what weather we are having!! One week its coats
and gloves, the next its summer wear. I can?t help but
wonder what the weather will be like a month from now.
Things are going well here at the House of Hope. We
have had 18 guests so far into this year. That?s 14
men and 4 women that have been able to stay with us
while working on the new paths their lives are fixing
to take. Please keep the House of Hope and our guests
in your prayers. I never knew that when I became the
Director for this homeless shelter, that I would enjoy
my work so much!! To see people change from being sad
to feeling good about themselves. Sometimes I will say
to my guests you have to stop laughing and smiling so
much remember this is a homeless shelter and then we
will all smile again. I find this to be the most rewarding experience of my life!
I thank God for blessing me with this great mission. I
would like to share a few testimonies of some of our
latest guests. I?ve been staying in the House of Hope
for just a short time now. When I first got here I was
very depressed, then I found the House of Hope, good
food, nice lounge area, a bed to sleep in, and hot
showers. I found that this shelter was more than what
it seemed. I started attending what is called
devotions, that are held every morning at 9 o?clock by
Mr. Anderson. He speaks from the Bible and shares his
life?s testimony. This has really helped me to find
peace and happiness within myself. Now, I have a
better outlook on life and I feel ready to take on the
world!! Thank you House of Hope Shelter, I don?t
believe it was an accident that I came to the House of Hope.
Hi I am a woman guest and I have been at the House of
Hope not to long of a time, but so far it has been a blessing. I?ve been able to become a normal person,
despite my previously coddled life. The House of Hope
is a place of change, but it is a good change and you
can only be successful if you learn what to change. I
now have a job, local friends, clothes, and a bright
future! We all start off here homeless, hopeless, or
lost. This shelter takes you under its gentle wing and teaches us to fly!! Thank you House of Hope.
I can?t begin to tell you how it makes me feel to know
that God is at work here at the HoH. Last but not
least I want to share how that we were able to be here
one night recently for the Lea?s House for Adults.
There was a fire at the Lea?s House about 7:45 one
night in the later part of December. The weather was
bad and we got a call from the police asking if their
residents could come over and hang out for a while, so
that the Red Cross could find them a place for the
next few days. We had 12 mentally disabled adults to
enjoy the comfort of the House of Hope for about two
hours that evening. The Red Cross was here, the staff
from the Lea?s House were here and able to give out
meds. to their residents. We gave them coffees and
bottle waters. A few needed coats and shoes which we
were able to provide and when they left at about 10:30
p.m. We were able to give them some bag lunches, and a
few supplies. We were able to bless these folks
because of your continued blessing at the House of
Hope. Thank you so much for all that you do to keep
our doors open so that we can continue to be a blessing to this community. To God be the glory!!!!
Blessings to you and all that you love,
-Stephen Anderson, Director
HOH President's Message
"Thank You"
The House of Hope is available to those who are in
need of emergency housing. We provide transitional
support that is intended to help our guests become
self supportive. The House of Hope is able to do this
work thanks to the generosity of donations, large and
small, that have come from individuals, businesses,
and churches in our community. Your contributions have
helped establish the House of Hope and sustain it. We
would not be able to provide the shelter without your
help. On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff,
and most importantly, our guests, we thank you!
Blessings, and warm regards.
