Message From The Director

The Director's Article of Appreciation

Hot, hot, hot---WOW! What weather we are having! I am so glad that we are able to be here for people that are in need of help. When our guests return in the evening after being out looking for work and programs to help move them forward with their lives, we are here with a hot meal, air conditioning, a nice shower and a bed. Your House of Hope is a wonderful place. I would like you to come out for a tour and see for yourself what God is doing!

As of the date of this letter we have had a total of 98 guests this year! At this time we have 14 guests at the shelter. That?s just 2 from having a full house.

I want to share with you what one of our guest had to say about the House of Hope. ?Hi, I came to the House of Hope Homeless Shelter one night and was very nervous and apprehensive when I first came here, as I had volunteered in homeless shelters in Miami where I?m from before, and was quickly calmed when I realized that House of Hope is a stark contrast to what I have seen. The environment is well organized and clean. I am so grateful for the time that I have had here at the House of Hope. During my stay here I have gained employment, obtained a vehicle, and God willing will soon have my very own apartment, all of which would not be possible without God and the House of Hope. I am very impressed by the cleanliness, abundance of food, and God filled positive team spirit that the House of Hope is blessed with. I especially enjoy the devotionals held here on Sundays. I am not your stereo type person that would end up at a homeless shelter, I am a college graduate, never done drugs, or been in trouble with the law and what I thought would be the most terrible experience in my life ended up being the most amazing life changing experience that I have had in my 29 years on this beautiful planet. I would like to thank God and the House of Hope for the many blessings that I have received during my stay here. I am also thankful to Mr. Steve Anderson for bringing Gods Word spoken beautifully and profound during the devotionals. Because of my stay here and Mr. Anderson?s kindness my life has changed to be so positive and blessed beyond measure.

Thank you House of Hope, Mr. Anderson, Staff and Donors who make this beautiful mission possible.?

That was a wonderful testimony, to God be the glory!

I also want to thank Pastor Brian Chadwick from Cornerstone Church for Christ and all of the young men and women from Work Camp?which is a lot of young people from different churches in the surrounding area. We had about 20 young men and women to come out to the shelter and paint our kitchen and clean our windows and came back later that day to share testimonies and sing and fellowship with our staff and guests! We had a great time! Thanks guys! You were great!

Please know that without your support we would not be able to continue to bless so many people when they are down on their luck.

YOU, our donors are the backbone of Your House of Hope. Thank you from the House of Hope for the love that you have and continue to show us! Many blessings to you and your family

God's blessing on you and your family,

God Bless,
-Stephen Anderson, Director

HOH President's Message

Grettings All,

The Board of Directors welcomed two new members in July: Ms. Kim Hensley (YMCA) and Ms. Stacy Allocca (lawyer). We are delighted to add these caring ladies to the Board. The House of Hope continues to provide a safe, welcoming, temporary home for our guests. We value the support from the Danville community without which we would have to close the doors. Contributions during the summer months have fallen short but we prayerfully believe the community will renew their resolve to fund the facility in the fall. We are so grateful for your support and cannot thank you enough.

In His love. CAM

Anyone who needs a tax receipt for contributions sent directly to American National Bank for the House of Hope’s account should send a copy of the paid check to
the attention of Bob Wiles, Treasurer, Post Office Box 1197, Danville, VA 24543.

This documentation is required in order for the House of Hope to send the needed receipt that is required by IRS for charitable gifts of $250 or more.

Please know that we are deeply grateful not only for the hundreds of donors who have lent their support in 2009, but also for the pledge commitments that have already been received for 2010.
